Organizations Concerned Citizens of Platte County Overview: CCPC is a group concerned about quality of life, children's health and property values in Platte County. The organization was incorporated in the early 90's and worked to successfully create one of the first County Health Ordinances to regulate factory animal farms. Along with The Sierra Club, they also came to an agreement with Kansas City Power & Light in March, 2007 concerning their proposal for a new coal plant near Weston, MO. The groups agreed to drop lawsuits against the company in return for dramatically reduced pollution emissions, 100% offset of the global warming gas from the new plant with wind and energy efficiency, net metering for KCP&L customers, collaboration by all the parties to pass legislation to encourage reduced energy usage, and an overall goal of reducing KCP&L's fleet global warming gas emissions 20% by 2020.
